Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Night Manager to join our team at our location in Portsmouth, NH. As an Assistant Night Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the club's operations during the night shift, ensuring that our members receive exceptional service, and that our merchandise is properly displayed and stocked. You will work closely with the Night Manager to coach, teach, and develop our overnight team members, and provide input on their performance evaluations. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the club and overnight team members in the absence of the Night Manager, ensuring that all tasks and responsibilities are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Model and provide excellent member service, while coaching, teaching, and developing overnight team members to do the same.
- Train, coach, motivate, recognize, and provide input on evaluation of overnight team members on tasks, responsibilities, and expectations defined by position relative to effective and productive merchandising.
- Deliver a positive service experience to members, ensuring that their needs are met and that they have a positive shopping experience.
- Ensure merchandise is properly displayed and has appropriate signage, and that merchandise is available for sale in proper quantities throughout the store.
- Follow and execute company directives related to merchandising, resets, and sales initiatives within the allotted time, and recommend merchandising changes to enhance sales.
- Operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner, and inspect forklifts prior to use, following established safety standards.
- Maintain all club policies and procedures, and ensure that all team members follow safety and sanitation guidelines.
Essential Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Forklift operator certification required (will be certified by BJ's).
- At least 18 years of age.
- Must successfully complete required training and certification processes.
- Must demonstrate leadership capabilities, including supervising cross-functional teams, training team members, and driving and communicating results.
- Prior forklift operating and merchandising experience required.
- High school diploma, college degree, and/or big box wholesale, retail, grocery, and/or management experience is preferred.
- Open shift availability required.

- Previous experience in a retail management role, preferably in a warehouse club or big-box retail environment.
- Proven track record of success in leading cross-functional teams and driving business results.
