Responsibilities:
As a Legal Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting attorneys with litigation cases. Your responsibilities will include:
- Utilizing software to prepare, e-file, and organize documents, including medical records, correspondence, reports, briefs, motions, pleadings, discovery, and deposition notice summaries
- Creating and editing court documents consistent with Florida state court requirements
- Maintaining attorney calendars, scheduling depositions, hearings, and mediations
- Assisting attorneys in preparation for trial or discovery
- Providing extensive scheduling and calendar activity, including depositions and mediations
- Reviewing electronic mail and document production on a daily basis
- Preparing correspondence, invoices, and electronic legal files
- Demonstrating professional diplomacy during interactions with clients, opposing counsel, home office staff, attorneys, teammates, claim partners, and court employees
- Managing and manipulating electronic documents in various formats (TIF, PDF, JPG)
- Providing overall support to the office as needed, including scanning, mail handling, photocopying, and file conversion
Requirements and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as an assistant in a law office or corporate law department
- Knowledge of Florida law and courts
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
- Trial support experience
- Experience in a high-volume litigation environment, including preparing pleadings and discovery, scheduling depositions, and maintaining Outlook calendars
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Insurance defense background and personal injury experience
- Experience working in a paperless environment
Skills and Competencies:
