About Amazon One Medical and the Role
Amazon One Medical is revolutionizing the healthcare industry by providing innovative solutions and exceptional patient care. As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of medical coding for claims. Reporting to the Manager I, Finance, you will be an integral part of the Senior Health Revenue Cycle team, working closely with clinical and revenue cycle professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing multiple coding-related projects and ensuring deliverables meet One Medical standards within acceptable timeframes.
- Staying up-to-date with CPT, ICD-10-CM coding guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic Guidance, and CMS Risk Adjustment guidance to maintain expertise.
- Assigning appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and other relevant codes to office visits, procedures, and diagnoses in a production environment.
- Reviewing and completing email requests in a timely manner, demonstrating working knowledge of the role and relevant regulations.
- Collaborating with the Medicare Risk Operations team to drive positive program outcomes.
- Performing other duties and projects as assigned, adhering to regulatory requirements and internal organizational policies and procedures.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- 2+ years of experience as a Professional Coder in an office setting, including risk adjustment coder/auditor experience.
- 1+ year of experience in Medicare/Medicare Advantage.
- CPC certification through AAPC or CCS certification through AHIMA.
- CRC certification to be obtained within one year of hire.
- Strong experience in Microsoft or Google suite, particularly in spreadsheets and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of health systems operations, including reimbursement methodologies and coding conventions.
- Advanced understanding of Profee and HCC Risk Adjustment, coding, and documentation requirements.
- Previous experience in a coding production environment.
- Ability to identify and communicate trends in provider coding and documentation.
- Strong written, verbal, communication, and attention to detail skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently within a team environment.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities and willingness to meet client and team needs.
