About the Role: Senior Scala Software Engineer
We're seeking a talented and dedicated Senior Software Engineer to join our Payment team, a critical component of our streaming services. As a Senior Scala Software Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in managing the payment transactions of millions of customers across our celebrated platforms - Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, and the upcoming Star. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team that ensures the seamless and magical experience of our global audience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Crucial Payment Systems: Ensure our multi-tenant system remains highly available, scalable, and resilient, processing payments efficiently and securely.
- Influence Technical Direction: Shape the technical architecture and direction of our Tier 1 services, leveraging your expertise to drive innovation and excellence.

Essential Qualifications:
- A BS degree in Computer Science or a related field, backed by solid experience in backend development.
- Proven ability in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems, showcasing your technical depth and problem-solving skills.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Scala, or extensive experience in another Object-Oriented programming language.
- Familiarity with AWS products and services, or experience with other cloud platforms, demonstrating your adaptability in cloud environments.
- In-depth experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, underscoring your ability to manage and manipulate data effectively.
- A history of successfully taking ownership of features/functionality and delivering end-to-end projects with high quality and robust architecture.
- Exceptional social skills with a proven track record of working effectively with multi-functional business partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in functional programming, preferably Scala.
- A strong understanding of software development principles, patterns, and practices.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits:
We offer a competitive compensation package that includes a salary range of $132,700 to $199,870 per year, depending on the location and your experience. Additionally, you may be eligible for a bonus and/or long-term incentive units, as well as a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, financial, and other benefits.
