We're now seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our remote US team, playing a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting and accounting processes.
About the Role
As a Staff Accountant, you'll report to our Accounting Managers and be responsible for providing essential accounting and financial support to drive the efficiency of our procedures and processes within the Accounting department. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining the accuracy of financial reporting and accounting, ensuring compliance with our Accounting Policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide primary support to the Accounting Manager during month-end closes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare detailed account analysis, journal entries, and balance sheet account reconciliations, maintaining the integrity of our General Ledger accounts.
- Perform budget vs. actual analysis, system balancing, and other tasks required to close month-end on a timely basis.
- Ensure adherence to Bon Secours Mercy Health Accounting Policies and demonstrate active knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in daily accounting functions.
- Provide coverage for other Staff Accountants as needed and take on additional job-related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 3-5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, with a strong background in financial reporting and accounting.
- The ability to work 8 AM to 5 PM in the Eastern time zone.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
We're looking for candidates with:
- Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Pivot tables, Macros, and advanced Excel formulas.
- Exceptional analytical skills and a motivation to investigate unusual ledger activity.
- A proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, with strong rapport-building skills to resolve issues efficiently.
- Self-directed and resourceful, with the ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and projects, demonstrating follow-through and initiative.
- Proficiency in core financial systems, including General Ledger and Accounts Payable.
