Job Summary:
As a skilled Billing Specialist I, you will play a vital role in our revenue cycle team, responsible for billing and collecting patient accounts receivable balances from insurance companies in a timely and efficient manner. Your expertise will be crucial in determining the optimal combination of re-billing, collecting, and follow-up activities to ensure seamless workflow and maximum revenue recovery. You will also provide education and support to medical practice office staff to ensure accurate claims submission and compliance with contracts and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Billing and collecting patient accounts receivable balances from insurance companies
- Determining the optimal combination of re-billing, collecting, and follow-up activities
- Providing education and support to medical practice office staff on accurate claims submission
- Interpreting contracts and determining correct and timely payments
- Ensuring the workflow of the billing department runs smoothly and efficiently
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Computer skills in Microsoft with emphasis in Excel
- Associates Degree in Business Administration or Coding Certification, or two years related Health-Care Billing experience preferred
- Knowledge of third-party payer and coding guidelines, insurance terms, medical terminology, medical records, coding, and hospital bills
