Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and instruct specialized youth and adult classes/programs, including advanced levels
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, curricula, and activities that promote learning and fun
- Provide guidance, support, and feedback to participants, ensuring a positive and inclusive experience
- Collaborate with the Recreation Supervisor and other team members to achieve program goals and objectives
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and safety standards, applying this knowledge to continuously improve programs and services
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Considerable experience in teaching or instructing, preferably in a recreation or community setting
- Relevant education, training, and/or certification in your area of expertise
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to teach and engage participants of diverse ages and backgrounds
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the above requirements, we are looking for candidates who:
- Have experience working with youth and adults, including those with diverse needs and abilities
- Are certified in first aid, CPR, and AED, or willing to obtain certification
- Have a strong understanding of safety protocols and risk management principles
- Are proficient in using technology, including software and online platforms, to support program delivery and administration
- Have a passion for community engagement, outreach, and partnership-building
