Key Responsibilities: Delivering High-Quality Transcription Services
As a Medical Dictation Transcriptionist, you'll be responsible for transcribing medical dictation performed by physicians and other healthcare providers into computerized medico-legal documents. Your tasks will include:
- Transcribing or editing medical dictation according to established productivity and quality standards, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Verifying patient information, including name, medical record number, visit number, admission, and discharge dates, using both visual proofreading and electronic spell checking.
- Recognizing and revising obvious inconsistencies, discrepancies, and inaccuracies in the dictation without altering the meaning or changing the dictator's style.
- Maintaining a high level of quality in your transcription work, consistently achieving an accuracy score of 98% or higher.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications: What We're Looking For
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; a certification in medical transcription (CMT) is preferred.
- At least one year of experience as a medical transcriptionist in an acute care setting, with exposure to various work types and specialties; this experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- A working knowledge of word processing software, gained through either formal education or work experience.
- Proficiency in using computer and internet technologies to efficiently complete transcription tasks.
- U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
