As a Data Engineer II, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data systems that power our business decisions. About the Role
As a Data Engineer II on the Ring Data Warehouse team, you will be responsible for gathering and discussing requirements from business partners across various verticals, such as Memberships, Sales, Logistics, Finance, and Product. You will build new data ingestions using a combination of local AWS services and in-house Amazon tools, while maintaining and improving existing data ingestions to ensure they meet evolving standards and corporate mandates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business partners to understand their needs and ensure data ingestions meet their requirements
- Design, build, and maintain large-scale data systems using AWS services and in-house Amazon tools
- Develop and implement data pipelines using ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and cleanliness across various data sources
- Perform code reviews and ensure best practices are followed by colleagues and supporting teams
- Troubleshoot data-related issues and provide solutions to stakeholders
- Stay up-to-date with new technologies and business needs, and adapt quickly to changing requirements
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building large-scale data systems
- Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and ETL pipelines
- Proficiency in SQL and data querying languages
- Experience with data storage solutions, such as relational databases and data warehouses
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AWS services, such as Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Fire Hose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Proficiency in modern programming languages, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Experience with non-relational databases and data stores, such as object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, and column-family databases
- Strong understanding of data architecture and data governance principles
