Job Summary and Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for the accounting functions related to sales and use tax assessment and permit compliance processes. This includes participating in the monthly accounting close cycle, preparing recurring monthly journal entries, and reconciling general ledger accounts. You will work closely with Senior Duty Accountants to ensure the completion of daily accounting and tax activities in the Corporate Expense Division. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements, consolidated statements, and other accounting reports
- Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of journal entries and accounting orders assigned to different accounts
- Applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and developing or recommending accounting procedures and policies
- Training or assigning work to accountants, accounting clerks, and other partners to participate in daily accounting activities
- Coordinating accounting matters with other departments, regions, and divisions
- Participating in financial reporting and analysis
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience in accounting or a related field
- A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
- Strong knowledge of financial analysis, accounting principles, and procedures
- Experience with general ledger software such as SAP or similar software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple tasks
Preferred qualifications include:
- 3 years of accounting experience
- Experience with sales and use tax assessment and permit compliance processes
- Certification in accounting, such as CPA or CMA
