Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Teaching Assistant to provide direct instructional services to students under the supervision of a certified teacher. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of child development, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct instructional services to students, supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth
- Work closely with certified teachers to develop and implement individualized learning plans
- Assist with classroom management, behavior support, and student supervision
- Support students with daily living activities, such as feeding, lifting, toileting, and hygiene
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and achievements
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other support staff
- Participate in school events, trips, and activities
- Assist with implementing classroom and school-wide safety plans
- Maintain confidentiality of student information
- Assume teacher responsibilities in the absence of the classroom teacher or as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teaching Assistant in New York State
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
- Knowledge of child development and learning principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents
- Physical ability to lift and move students, as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with students with diverse needs
- Training in crisis intervention and management
- Knowledge of educational software and technology
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
