The University of Arkansas System is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to join our team as an Assistant Professor of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. This is a 9-month tenure track faculty position that offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the education and development of culturally and linguistically diverse students. As an Assistant Professor, you will be expected to conduct research, teach graduate and undergraduate level courses, and engage in community outreach and service.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research both individually and in collaboration with other faculty, and publish the results of scholarship in refereed journals
- Obtain external funding to support research and curriculum development endeavors
- Develop and teach graduate and undergraduate level courses on the Fayetteville campus and online
- Participate in student advisement and mentoring, including service on graduate student advisory and dissertation committees
- Engage in community outreach with culturally and linguistically diverse populations
- Collaborate with P-12 schools, such as through offering professional development or programmatic support
- Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate by August 2024, from a nationally recognized university in English as a Second Language, educational or applied linguistics, or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education
- Demonstrated research interest in culturally responsive pedagogy
- Evidence of teaching culturally and linguistically diverse students for at least one year
- Evidence of scholarly productivity
Preferred Qualifications:
- Scholarly presentations and/or publications in the areas of education, ESL/bilingual/multicultural education, or related disciplinary areas
- At least two years of experience in a P-12 US school setting with linguistically diverse students
- Experience working in culturally and linguistically diverse settings, such as study and/or teaching abroad
- Evidence of collaboration with P-12 US educators, such as through successful curriculum and/or professional development
- Documented evidence of successful teaching at the college/university level
- Experience in the development and implementation of online education courses offered by a college/university
- Experience working with dual language immersion programs
- Experience in grant writing, managing grants, and/or grant evaluation
- Experience working with international students and communities
