Job description: MAJOR ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:
1.Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and operating principles
2. Meets or exceeds all established center, contract, and individual goals and expected outcomes by implementing
a local outreach program to ensure sufficient referrals to the program
3. Helps create and implement a local and geographic outreach program to recruit and maintain a pool of interested,
eligible, and suitable applicants
4. Responsible for awareness and familiarity with the National and Regional Job Corps Office goals, business
plans, projects and initiatives ensuring principles and objectives are incorporated into the Center's OA Plan.
5. Plans, coordinates and directs the community outreach activities of the center by collaborating with local
organizations, career centers, and community resources to recruit and help address applicant needs.
6. Develops special materials to address targeted groups especially females.
7. Conducts in-depth interviews with applicants.
8. Ensures and maintains the highest level of Data Integrity in collection of all required documents for applicant
folders ensuring accurate data and signatures on all applicable forms.
9. Reviews and assesses all application materials and personal observations to make an informed judgment about
applicant's suitability for the program.
10. Presents all suitable application folders to the Center Director for quality control audit.
11. Adheres to all deadlines established by the Center Director
12. Provides timely travel authorization and/or information as appropriate.
13. Participates in local career fairs to promote Job Corps programming.
14. Establishes rapport with applicants and provides ongoing support through the application process, pre-arrival
and during center stay.
15. Provides applicants with all relevant information regarding Job Corps programs, standards of conduct,
expectations, goals, disability and reasonable accommodations, equal employment opportunity, and enrollment
requirements.
16. Introduces applicants to labor market information in applicant's preferred vocation in his/her own hometown
area.
17. Update student information, such as addresses, etc.
18. Establishes and maintains positive partnerships with center staff to ensure the center receives committed and
informed applicants and that student's receive quality services.
19. Records and maintains all application materials and associated documentation, following all established
procedures for accuracy and confidentiality.
20. Conducts tours of the center for visiting individuals and/or groups.
21. Maintains marketing materials on center to be used during all outreach activities.
22. Ensures all applicant folders are secured to protect PII.
23.Provides timely information to the centers and applicable staff to ensure students are assigned to respective
centers, transportation is arranged, and all students' needs are anticipated.
24. Establishes rapport with applicants and provides ongoing support throughout the application, pre-departure, and
arrival processes and throughout students' stay in the program.
25. Maintains and updates records according to federal requirements.
26. Establishes a collaborative professional working relationship with Career Centers, Center staff, High School
Administrators, Social Service Agencies & Youth Organizations.
27. Promotes and provide good customer service with local business, Career Centers, Social Service Agencies,
Youth Organizations and High School Administrators.
28. Establishes procedures and strategies to meet the centers OA annual arrivals goals.
29. Travels to centers, career centers, outreach sites, transportation depots, and other applicable locations as
necessary.
30. Attends required staff training sessions
31. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications or closely related field; or, Associate's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communication or closely related field, and 2 years' related experience. Experience may include successful Job Corps enrollment or successful enrollment in other youth development programs.
Preferred: Minimum requirements plus experience working with disadvantaged youth highly desirable.
General Information: In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, candidate must have regular attendance, good communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Knowledge Required: Knowledge of Job Corps or similar training program.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Excellent presentation skills.
Must possess a valid State driver's license.
Ability to effectively relate to students.
Excellent organizational skills.
