Position Purpose: The Systems Engineer 2 develops, maintains and supports The Home Depot's technical infrastructure, hardware, and system software components for small to large-sized projects. Performs configuration, debugging and support for multiple infrastructure platforms on large-sized and smaller projects. Performs root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures and present to management. Assist in store & SSC engineering and roll-out implementation. Can communicate complete technical solutions to business partners with minimal direction using understandable language. Ability to manage time and work independently on multiple projects. Systems Engineer 2 has been exposed to various architecture review boards and has contributed to deliverables presented at review boards. Escalate appropriately to technical leaders and management. Direct Manager/Direct Reports: ??Position reports to the Manager, Information Services ??No direct responsibility for supervising others. Travel Requirements: ??Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time. Physical Requirements: ??Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. Working Conditions: ??Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Minimum Qualifications: ??Must be eighteen years of age or older. ??Must be legally permitted to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications: ??7-10 years related experience with focus in infrastructure administration (servers, databases, network, end-user devices) ??Knowledge of SQL ??Experience in operational support of infrastructure and applications, including system monitoring and alerting (e.g., Solarwinds) ??Retail/business experience a plus. ??Project leadership ability. ??BS Computer Science or related field. ??Minimum Education: ??The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
