They are seeking a Group Underwriter to prepare financial statements for group health, life, and disability income lines of business while ensuring underwriting targets are met for growth and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups in accordance with financial agreements
- Ensure the wording on the financial agreements is sound
- Ensure underwriting targets are met for growth and profitability
- Development and ongoing maintenance of direct relationships with sales, clients and producers; and
- Continuous dealings with internal underwriting staff and other internal customers (ie: Finance, Case management, Group Admin), the agent/broker/consultant network and policyholders
Skills
- Post-secondary education in business administration, mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or computer science
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Group Underwriting (recommended)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
- Enjoy working in a collaborative, team-based environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-directed with high accountability and responsibility
- Excellent reasoning, judgment, and decision-making abilities
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
- Strong negotiation skills
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered as an asset
