[Remote] Assistant Underwriter - Energy

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Skyward Specialty Insurance is seeking an Assistant Underwriter to support the underwriting team in driving growth and improving profitability. The role involves providing assistance throughout the underwriting lifecycle, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining relationships with brokers. Responsibilities - Provide timely, efficient, and accurate support to Underwriting with respect to issuing policies; statistical coding; other miscellaneous back-end processes for new, renewal, and endorsement transactions; and miscellaneous clerical responsibilities for office or department - Create policy documents which represent the insurance transaction bound by the underwriter - Ensure the statistical coding and policy issuance complies with regulatory requirements for each insurance transaction - Maintain electronic and/or physical underwriting file - Solicit renewal transactions - Provide operational support for the product line’s underwriters - Work with the unit underwriters to bind, book, and issue policies, process endorsements and to maintain Broker relationships - Review policies for accuracy and regulatory standards - Input policy and underwriting data in appropriate systems - Make direct contact with brokers and their assistants, including participating in meetings and visits as required - Meet deadlines set forth by management and/or underwriters within the team - Adhere to company guidelines, policies, and procedures - Other support tasks as assigned by manager Skills - Workers Compensation experience is required for this positions - Applied knowledge of underwriting fundamentals and standard industry practices - Understanding of basic financial principles and processes - Understanding of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence (AI) and the ability to apply them to enhance efficiency in day-to-day work - Oral and written communication skills - Organizational and planning skills - Ability to work independently, exercising critical thinking skills relative to the directed work assignment - Ability to interact with a wide variety of people daily, in person, via telephone and email - Accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail are essential - Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Word) - Ability to independently multi-task and respond to changing business priorities - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a collaborative environment - Outgoing, driven, high attention to detail and results focused mentality - High School diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred - The UA I designation requires 1-2 years of related experience in office/clerical work, or operations support work - Must be able to function effectively in high volume environment - Team player with a commitment to company values - Analytical and detail oriented; capable of multi-tasking Benefits - Health and welfare benefits - Tuition and professional certification assistance - 401k savings - Elective participation in the Employee Stock Purchase Program - Paid time off - Paid holidays - Child bonding leave - Other employee assistance Company Overview - Skyward Specialty is a rapidly growing and innovative specialty insurance company, delivering commercial P&C products and solutions on a non-admitted and admitted basis.
