Human Resources Assistant

The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) is NASA’s science operations center for missions including the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes. They are seeking a Human Resources Assistant to join their Benefits Team, focusing on processing benefits administration changes and managing data inputs into HRIS systems. Responsibilities - Processing benefit administration changes: enrollments, life events, retirements, COBRA, and compliance tracking - Inputting employee data into HRIS system: new hires, promotions, transfers, terminations, and data integrity - Vendor and payroll coordination: managing invoices, file transfers, and reconciliations with accuracy - Strong attention to detail in all data entry, reporting, and benefits-related processes - Employee support: onboarding, recognition programs, service awards, and leave administration - Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees, managers, vendors, and payroll - Collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork and problem-solving - Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive employee situations with discretion Skills - 1-2 years of experience performing HR operations, benefits support or business administration - Experience handling accounting-related tasks, data entry, vendor invoices, reconciliations, or payroll reporting - Proficient with MS Office - High School Diploma or equivalent - Strong attention to detail in all data entry, reporting, and benefits-related processes - Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees, managers, vendors, and payroll - Collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork and problem-solving - Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive employee situations with discretion - Experience supporting employees and providing customer service - Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms (UKG preferred) and payroll processes a plus - HR or Business-related coursework a plus Benefits - Free parking - Comprehensive benefits Company Overview - Space Telescope Science Institute is a company focused on technology and implementation of long range telescopes.
