About the Role
We're excited to offer a Substitute Teacher opportunity that provides the flexibility to work on your own schedule while making a positive impact on the educational journey of students in Oldwick, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the chance to gain hands-on teaching experience across various educational settings, from elementary to high school, and even in specialized subjects or special education classrooms.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality instructional support in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
- Adapt to different teaching environments and curriculum requirements.
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure a productive learning environment.
- Deliver lessons as planned by the classroom teacher or develop your own engaging lesson plans.
- Build positive relationships with students, teachers, and school staff.
- Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your designated Scoot consultant to discuss your performance, receive feedback, and develop your teaching skills.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through our free, online training programs that cover topics such as trauma-informed teaching and classroom management.
Essential Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits.
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor.
- NJ Substitute Credential.
- Background check and TB risk assessment (Scoot Education will cover the cost).
- Full COVID-19 vaccination.
- A passion for education and a commitment to putting students first.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience.
- Special education or subject-specific teaching certifications.
- Excellent classroom management and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to new environments and challenges.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
