Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
- Communicate effectively with school staff, teachers, and administrators to ensure a smooth transition
- Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills
- Be available for assignments on a flexible schedule, including short-term and long-term placements
Essential Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
- NJ Substitute Credential
- Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this!)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related field
- Special Education or subject-specific certifications (e.g., Math, Science, ELA)
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including students with IEPs
