Key Responsibilities

• Conduct non-clinical reviews based on applicable criteria and guidelines on requested services, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
• Communicate decisions to providers and/or members according to department protocols, providing excellent customer service and support.
• Document outcomes of reviews and demonstrate the ability to interpret and analyze non-clinical information, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
• Complete verbal or non-verbal outreach to providers or members to obtain medical information for reviews, building strong relationships and resolving issues efficiently.
• Identify and refer organization determinations that require a clinical review to a nurse or Medical Director, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective decision-making.
• Conduct reviews of authorizations entered to ensure accuracy, avoiding impacts on claims payment and maintaining high standards of quality.
• Support the care management department by completing outreaches to members or providers to meet The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, contributing to the success of our care management initiatives.
• Support the administrative support team with the retrieval and attachment of facsimiles, ensuring customer requests are forwarded to the respective area for processing and maintaining efficient workflows.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for CM&O around the non-clinical review process, providing guidance and training to colleagues and contributing to process improvements.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED, with a strong foundation in mathematics and science.
• 3+ years of experience in a related field, such as pharmacy operations, healthcare administration, or medical records.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, including non-clinical review processes and applicable criteria and guidelines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with providers, members, and colleagues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze non-clinical information and identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset:

• Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or equivalent, demonstrating a commitment to professional development and excellence.
• Experience working in a remote or virtual environment, with strong self-motivation and discipline.
• Knowledge of CMS requirements and guidelines, with experience working in a care management or utilization review setting.
• Strong technical skills, including proficiency in electronic health records (EHRs) and other healthcare software applications.
