Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that aligns with state and national standards, including choral music programs such as chorus, choir, and choral ensemble.
- Plan and deliver instruction that caters to the diverse needs and abilities of students, using a range of teaching strategies and technologies.
- Utilize a variety of music literature, including traditional and contemporary pieces, to engage students and promote musical growth.
- Establish and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, ensuring that students are motivated, focused, and respectful.
- Assess student learning and progress, using a range of evaluation tools and techniques to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.
- Plan, rehearse, and direct students in musical performances for school and community events, promoting school spirit and community engagement.
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to develop and implement music programs that align with district goals and objectives.
- Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development, staying current with best practices in music education and incorporating new ideas and technologies into teaching practice.
- Participate in faculty committees and sponsor student activities, contributing to the broader life of the school community.
- Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
- A valid teaching certification or license, with a specialization in music education.
- A bachelor's degree in music education or a related field.
- Experience teaching choral music programs, preferably in a K-12 setting.
- Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and appreciation, as well as choral music literature and pedagogy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Ability to adapt to a remote or hybrid teaching environment, with strong technical skills and familiarity with digital learning tools.
Preferred Qualifications
