Job Responsibilities
As a Full Stack Software Engineer at Wayfair, you will be responsible for designing and building web-based, event-driven, cloud-enabled applications that are reliable, scalable, and easy to maintain. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing scalable architectures for our cloud-based applications
- Collaborating with leads and engineers across multiple teams to solve a wide range of business and technical problems
- Mentoring less experienced software engineers and contributing to architectural and code review discussions
- Ensuring our systems are well-documented and meet the highest standards of engineering excellence
- Defining requirements to elevate the bar of the teams you will be working with
- Working with relational and NoSQL databases and event-driven architectures
- Utilizing cloud systems to solve problems, ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- 5+ years of object-oriented software development experience, ideally using Java, Spring Boot, React, Kubernetes, GCP (or any cloud), Kafka, and MSSQL
- Vast experience operating with relational and NoSQL databases and event-driven architectures
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide simple, abstract solutions to complex issues
- Knowledge of web development technologies and distributed systems
- Experience with SOA and microservices
- Good understanding of how to use cloud systems to solve problems, ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience working in agile environments
- Strong analytical and creative mindset, with a passion for solving business problems with technology
Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working with cloud-based applications and scalable architectures
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, such as Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with agile project management methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban

- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including design patterns, testing, and continuous integration
