As a Business Development Officer in our Customer and Private Business Banking division, you will play a crucial role in identifying, acquiring, and developing new relationships with business clients. Key Responsibilities
- Identify, acquire, and develop new relationships with business clients, focusing on small business development and growth
- Set out opportunities and partner with Regional Business Relationship Managers to discuss business products and services and onboard clients
- Build Wells Fargo relevance to prospective clients and position Wells Fargo Small Business Development and product partners for new business opportunities through marketing efforts and value-added ideas
- Partner with market leadership to develop strategies and lead marketing efforts in a defined area
- Assist with processes including identification of new clients, client acquisition, initial client contact, follow-up strategies, identification of products and services to address client needs, proposal development, and overall management of new client acquisition, including onboarding
- Partner with Regional Business Relationship Managers and other partners to ensure a smooth client transition
- Identify additional product sales opportunities by building relationships with regional managers and product partners to deliver the full complement of Wells Fargo products and services
- Lead or participate in moderately complex initiatives and projects within Small Business Development functional area and contribute to large-scale planning related to functional area projects
- Analyze and solve moderately complex business, operational, or technical problems that require an in-depth assessment of multiple factors
- Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a Small Business Development team to meet project expectations while utilizing a strong understanding of Small Business Development functional area, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
- Collaborate and communicate with Small Business Development peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve issues and achieve objectives
- Lead Small Business Development projects and teams, or act as a mentor for less experienced individuals
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 2+ years of Small Business Development experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- A BS/BA degree or higher
- Broad knowledge and understanding of the financial services business
- Strong networking ability with colleagues
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to be proactive, creative, and innovative in meeting client and project needs
- Ability to deliver dynamic presentations to business clients
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are desirable:
- Experience prospecting, offering products and services, and referring
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with prospects, reference sources, and partners
- Established network in the local market
- 2+ years of direct acquiring and prospecting new clients experience
- 2+ years of business credit experience
- 2+ years of new business development experience
- 2+ years of business-to-business sales experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry
- Experience building relationships and consulting directly with leadership
- Experience acquiring small business customers
- Knowledge and understanding of outside sales in a consultative Business-to-Business environment
- Experience building relationships with reference partners and community organizations within different communities
- Excellent customer service skills
