Job Overview
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach undergraduate engineering capstone courses in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) programs
- Teach undergraduate coursework, such as Numerical Methods and/or Statics & Particle Dynamics, in traditional classroom and laboratory settings
- Participate in service-related activities, including serving on the undergraduate curriculum committee and providing course assessment data for ABET
- Contribute to curriculum and course development, including distance learning classes and e-learning experiences
- Advise undergraduate student project teams, such as Formula Car and mini Baja
Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant/Associate Professor, Educator in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, you will:
- Develop and teach courses in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology programs
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publication, and presentation
- Participate in departmental and university-wide service, including committee work and advising students
- Collaborate with colleagues to advance the department's research focus areas, including Structural Dynamics, Advanced Manufacturing, Thermal-Fluids Science, Applied and Computational Mechanics, Nanotechnology, Materials Science, and Industrial & Systems Engineering
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must:
- Hold a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field prior to the effective date of appointment
- Possess a strong commitment to teaching and advising undergraduate students
- Demonstrate potential for scholarly activity and research
