Job Title: Senior Network Engineer Location: Herndon, VA We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This individual will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network infrastructure across both datacenter and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in enterprise networking and firewall technologies, and a strong understanding of secure, scalable, and high-performance network architectures. Key Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and manage complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 network topologies in hybrid (on-prem and cloud) environments Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise firewall solutions, with a focus on security and segmentation Collaborate with security, systems, and DevOps teams to support network infrastructure supporting mission-critical applications Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and configuration management across network environments Lead root cause analysis of network-related issues and outages Contribute to documentation, diagrams, and runbooks for operational excellence Support compliance initiatives through secure architecture and audit preparation Required Qualifications: 7+ years of professional experience in enterprise network engineering Demonstrated expertise in firewall configuration, rule management, and troubleshooting (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/FTD, Fortinet, etc.) Strong experience with datacenter switching, routing, and network segmentation Proven experience with cloud networking in AWS, Azure, or GCP (e.g., VPCs, VPNs, routing tables, security groups) Solid understanding of protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, VLAN, VXLAN, IPsec, and DNS Proficient in using tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, or other packet analysis utilities Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Juniper switches or routers (e.g., EX, QFX, MX series) Familiarity with Aruba ClearPass or similar NAC solutions Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIS/JNCIP, AWS Networking Specialty) A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is: $146,400.00-189,299.00 USD The actual salary offered may vary within the range based on a candidates' unique experience, locale, and business needs.
