Job description About the Role The Senior Consultant – Sustainability will support the delivery of ESG, circular economy, and decarbonisation projects by applying analytical and technical expertise to real-world sustainability challenges. The role includes supporting ESG due diligence, sustainability reporting, and energy transition assessments, while contributing to internal capability building and client engagement. It’s ideal for a sustainability professional looking to deepen technical expertise and grow into a leadership trajectory within dss+. Purpose of the Role The Senior Consultant – Sustainability will play a key role in delivering sustainability, ESG, and circular economy projects across industries. The position requires a strong understanding of sustainability frameworks, decarbonisation, ESG due diligence, and green finance, as well as the ability to apply these concepts to help clients achieve measurable progress on their sustainability goals. The Senior Consultant will focus primarily on technical delivery, client support, and data-driven analysis, working closely with Managers and Directors to ensure project success. The role requires a mix of technical expertise, consulting capability, and the ability to communicate complex sustainability topics in a practical and actionable way. Key Responsibilities Project Delivery and Technical Support • Support the design, delivery, and implementation of sustainability and ESG projects, including diagnostics, gap assessments, and strategy development • Conduct research and analysis to develop insights on sustainability trends, risks, and opportunities across industries • Contribute to the development and implementation of ESG frameworks and sustainability reporting aligned with GRI, SASB, TCFD, and ISSB standards • Undertake ESG due diligence (ESG DD) assessments for corporates, investors, and financial institutions, identifying material risks and opportunities • Support clients in developing decarbonisation and energy transition strategies, including GHG accounting, scenario planning, and emission reduction initiatives • Contribute to projects promoting circular economy, resource efficiency, and waste valorisation practices • Provide analytical support for green finance and sustainable investment projects, including data preparation and benchmarking • Develop clear, high-quality deliverables — reports, presentations, dashboards — that translate technical findings into actionable insights Client Engagement and Coordination • Collaborate closely with client teams to gather data, validate information, and support the implementation of sustainability initiatives • Ensure timely and accurate communication with clients throughout project execution • Participate in client meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements under the guidance of the Project Manager or Director • Contribute to internal discussions and share insights from projects to support knowledge building within the team Internal and Knowledge Development • Support internal capability building on topics such as ESG frameworks, decarbonisation, circular economy, and green finance • Contribute to thought leadership through research, drafting insights, and supporting publications • Maintain awareness of evolving sustainability regulations, reporting standards, and global trends • Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to ensure a consistent approach to sustainability delivery Job requirements Key Requirements • Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability Management, or related discipline • 5–8 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, or related consulting roles • Solid understanding of ESG frameworks and sustainability reporting (GRI, SASB, TCFD, ISSB) • Experience conducting ESG due diligence, carbon assessments, and sustainability performance evaluations • Exposure to decarbonisation, energy transition, and circular economy projects • Knowledge of green finance concepts and responsible investment frameworks • Strong analytical, research, and presentation skills • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with attention to detail • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively within multicultural teams • Willingness to travel occasionally for project delivery and client engagement Core Competencies • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset • Collaborative and adaptable team player • Effective communication and interpersonal skills • Structured approach to project delivery and documentation • Curiosity, initiative, and a passion for sustainability • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Behavioural Competencies • Demonstrates accountability, integrity, and a commitment to quality • Builds trust through collaboration and clear communication • Takes initiative and ownership of assigned workstreams • Displays curiosity and openness to continuous learning • Aligns personal actions with the dss+ mission and sustainability values Location: PAN India Details Remote • Mumbai, Mahārāshtra, India Sustainability All done!
