Job title: Senior Commercial Cost Accountant Company: Scapa Tapes North America LLC Job description: KEY PURPOSE OF ROLE Reports to the North American Finance Director, with dotted line reporting to both the Windsor and Orangeburg Site Directors. Responsibilities include the preparation of management financial reports (the factory packs) and provides a number of pieces of information for the monthly operating review (MOR) for both Orangeburg and Windsor. The position has overall responsibility for the inventory and cost accounting at both sites. This role also tracks capital expenditures for all US sites, and maintains the detailed fixed assets register (BNA). The position also provides cost accounting support to the Scapa Renfrew, Ontario, Canada manufacturing site. Also responsible for internal auditing, cost accounting, budgetary controls, and forecasting. Provides analytics on operating results and ensures controls are in compliance with Scapa’s policies and internal control framework. Responsible for developing product costing information for Commercial, New Product Development (NPD), and Operations. This role will partner with Commercial, Operations and Site Leadership to drive YoY growth and margin expansion. KEY RESPONSIBILITIE COSTING Responsibility for analysis and reporting on the costing process • Generating Costing for new products and development agreements for three North American facilities • Identifying anomalies in product cost structures and making amendments • Carrying out annual cost planning/cost roll • Creating and communicating material and labor variance reports • Preparing and reporting on monthly costings • Preparing labor analyses and liaising with Site Operations Directors • Ensuring bills of materials are accurate • Ensuring the quality of costing data throughout SAP and EPICOR REPORTING To be the conduit between finance and operations at a site-based level • To liaise with the Orangeburg and Windsor sites on financial performance, monitoring of inventory and key site metrics • To produce site based management reports covering GL and cost centers (or departments) • Financial validation of site projects and ongoing achievement against cost-out targets BUDGET/FORECASTING Work closely with site leadership and a variety of site functional areas and departments during the budget & forecasting cycles to facilitate data integrity and financial strategy • To produce a monthly forecast covering both P&L and certain Balance Sheet accounts • To produce the site annual operation plan covering both P&L and Balance Sheet • Validate and Measure the annual list of site cost out projects FIXED ASSETS To be the record keeper for fixed assets accounting for all US sites. • To maintain the fixed assets and depreciation detail ledger in BNA for all US sites • To administer the US piece of the capex request and approval software on Scapa’s intranet • To track capex projects on a real time basis, including assembly of invoices and other capex support • To liaise with tax in order to report fixed assets on a tax basis • To liaise with both internal and outside auditors to provide support for the annual audit related to capex spend • To monitor the US sites when they perform capex verification procedures VIRTUES AND TALENTS Essential Skills: • BS degree in Accounting • Robust financial modelling in excel • Ability to drive strategic planning • Excellent communication skills • Ability to deliver within tight deadlines Essential Experience: • 5-10 years of Cost Accounting knowledge, preferably in manufacturing • Experience with SAP, EPICOR, or other large ERP system • Working knowledge of multi-level costings Essential Qualifications: • Experience in a professional finance environment • Experience in a multi-site manufacturing organization • Excellent data presentation skills both written and verbal • Excellent prioritization skills Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications: • Ability to deal effectively with all employees and external business contacts while conveying a positive, service-oriented attitude. • Ability to completely maintain confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment.
