As demand continues to grow, we’re looking to bring on a sharp and experienced Remote SaaS Bookkeeper to help us manage the monthly bookkeeping for fast-growing startups. About the Role: We’re hiring a detail-oriented Remote SaaS Bookkeeper with strong accrual accounting experience to manage day-to-day bookkeeping and monthly close for a subscription-based software business. This role requires comfort with SaaS-specific accounting areas like deferred revenue, revenue recognition, prepaid expenses, and month-end accruals, plus the ability to produce clean, reliable financials on a consistent schedule. Key Responsibilities • Maintain accurate books on an accrual basis in accordance with GAAP best practices • Perform monthly close including bank and credit card reconciliations • Record and reconcile subscription revenue, including: • Deferred revenue schedules • Monthly revenue recognition entries • Refunds, credits, and churn adjustments • Track and book accruals and prepaids (software tools, contractors, insurance, etc.) • Categorize and reconcile expenses across operating accounts and payment platforms • Assist with accounts payable and vendor management as needed • Support accounts receivable workflows, including invoicing and collections (if applicable) • Maintain a clean chart of accounts and accurate class/location/project tracking (if used) • Prepare or support monthly reporting including: • Profit & Loss • Balance Sheet • Cash Flow summary • Collaborate with leadership and external tax/CPA partners for year-end readiness • Document processes and maintain organized financial files (statements, receipts, contracts) SaaS-Specific Experience Needed You should be comfortable with: • Accrual accounting vs. cash accounting • Deferred revenue and subscription billing concepts • Basic revenue recognition timing (monthly/annual plans, implementation fees, upgrades/downgrades) • Matching principle, month-end accruals, and clean cutoffs • Understanding key SaaS revenue streams and payment processors (Stripe preferred) Required Qualifications • 5+ years of bookkeeping experience, ideally for SaaS or subscription businesses • Strong working knowledge of accrual accounting and monthly close best practices • Experience with at least one major accounting system such as QuickBooks Online (preferred) • Experience reconciling bank/credit card accounts and maintaining clean ledgers • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines consistently • Reliable communication and ability to work independently in a remote environment Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) • Experience with Stripe, Chargebee, Recurly, or other subscription billing tools • Experience with SaaS metrics reporting (MRR, ARR, churn, CAC) • Prior support for CFO/controller-level reporting needs • Familiarity with 1099 tracking and contractor workflows • Experience supporting audits or investor reporting packages What Success Looks Like • Month-end close completed accurately and on time • Books are consistently reconciled with minimal cleanup required • Deferred revenue and revenue recognition are tracked correctly • Financial statements are reliable and ready for decision-making and tax support Job Types: Part-time, Contract Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 1.0 – 10.0 per week Education: • Bachelor's (Required) Experience: • SaaS accounting: 5 years (Preferred) License/Certification: • CPA (Preferred) Work Location: Remote Apply tot his job
