About the position Under indirect supervision, is responsible for accurate coding of Emergency Room procedures, diagnoses and conditions, working from the appropriate documentation in the medical record. This ED coder needs to be strong and current with ER Chemo charts (Injections and Infusions, Hydration's, etc.) and must be able to code E&M facility levels. All work is carried out in accordance with the rules, regulations and coding conventions of the American Hospital Association (Coding Clinic), ICD-10-CM, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Extensive knowledge of 3M basic encoder, McKesson OneContent and Paragon (Allscripts product) electronic health record is required. Must have a minimum 5yrs recent acute care ED coding experience. Comfortable with hitting a 95% accuracy or better and hitting productivity standards. Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology. Responsibilities • Accurate coding of Emergency Room procedures, diagnoses, and conditions. • Work from appropriate documentation in the medical record. • Code E&M facility levels. • Ensure compliance with coding conventions of the American Hospital Association, ICD-10-CM, and CMS. • Utilize 3M basic encoder, McKesson OneContent, and Paragon electronic health record. Requirements • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Three (3-5) years RECENT FACILITY OUTPATIENT ER hospital coding/billing and collection experience. • Proficient with OP Facility Coding Guidelines. • Extensive knowledge of ICD10PCS/CM coding principles. • Minimum 5 years recent acute care ED coding experience. Nice-to-haves • Experience with coding Injections/Infusions and facility E/M. • Highly preferred to have McKesson OneContent and Paragon experience. • Must have 3M experience. • CCS preferred but will look at RHIT, RHIA, CPC.
