Legal Assistant (12 Month Contract)

The Legal Assistant role is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to ensure efficient day-to-day operations, including managing files, preparing legal documents, and communicating with clients and stakeholders. Responsibilities Administrative tasks, such as email and calendar management, meeting coordination, processing incoming and outgoing mail, preparing expense reports, handling invoices and disbursements Open, maintain, and close files in accordance with firm procedures Maintain an organized file management and bring-forward system Prepare, format, and proofread a variety of legal documents, including correspondence, contracts, and corporate documents Ensure all physical and electronic filing is organized and updated regularly Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and external stakeholders Provide support to other members of the group as required Other duties, as assigned Skills Legal Administrative Assistant certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution 1–5 years of law firm experience, preferably in business law Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (including Teams and SharePoint) and legal software such as iManage, Adobe, DocuSign, and Chrome River Strong understanding of business and legal terminology Ability to work independently with a high degree of accountability and minimal supervision Proven capacity to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and multitask in a fast-paced environment Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail Strong team player with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff and lawyers Benefits A health and wellness subsidy Flexible medical and dental benefits (effective from day one) Personal days Employee & family assistance program Paid vacation and sick days Monetary incentive for employee referrals Flexible working arrangements Opportunities to give back to your community through firm initiatives An engaging firm culture that celebrates our hardworking and dedicated people Company Overview Fasken is a leading canadian law firm with more than 700 lawyers and ten offices on four continents.
