Staff Cost Accountant – Remote (Philippines-Based)

Overview
KeepingCount is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our expanding team. This remote position is based in the Philippines and initially requires alignment with your manager’s time zone. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in construction accounting, supporting end-to-end processes from data entry to financial reporting.
As a Staff Accountant, you will collaborate closely with Senior Accountants and Accounting Managers to ensure accurate financial reporting, effective cost tracking, and timely delivery of client-facing outputs.
Key Responsibilities
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger reconciliations
• Assist in job cost tracking, project billing, and budget-to-actual reporting
• Prepare and post general ledger journal entries
• Contribute to US based payroll processing and understand US based payroll exemptions
• Help prepare financial statements, WIP (Work-in-Progress) reports, and other client deliverables
• Maintain organized financial records in compliance with company policies
Qualifications
Experience:
• 1–3 years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience
• Experience in HVAC, construction, home services, or project-based accounting preferred
• Exposure to job cost accounting, payroll, or client accounting services
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a remote environment
Skills:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time management
• Collaborative team player with a proactive approach
• Self-motivated and dependable, with a commitment to follow-through
• Adaptable to working with multiple clients and systems in a fast-paced setting
Technical Proficiency:
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
• Familiarity with Gusto, Karbon, Bill.com, Divvy, HubDoc, and ChargeOver is a plus
• Comfortable communicating via video calls, chat, and email in a remote setup
• Quick learner with strong technical aptitude for new tools and systems
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (required)
• Accounting certifications or continuing education (preferred)
Work Schedule
• Full-time remote role based in the Philippines
• First 90 days: Work hours aligned with manager’s time zone (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM PHT)
• After 90 days: Flexible schedule with a minimum 4-hour overlap with manager’s time zone
