We're a small New Zealand business in a niche industry looking for an experienced SEO specialist to work with us on a project-by-project basis.
We've had SEO work done previously and have a solid foundation in place. A lot of the technical work has already been completed. What we're looking for now is someone who can pick up where that left off, identify the highest-value opportunities, and execute without unnecessary fluff. We also want you to act as an advisor.
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience working with small businesses (please share relevant examples)
- Strong technical SEO skills — Google Search Console, crawl error resolution, schema markup, site audits
- Experience optimising content for AI search — Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and similar
- Clear, honest monthly reporting that shows exactly what was done and why
- Someone who communicates plainly and treats our budget with respect — we want to be able to get on a Google Meet call and have good conversations
What the work will involve:
- Reviewing our current position and identifying priority gaps
- Content gap analysis — identifying what's missing from our site and providing clear briefs so we can write and publish it ourselves
- Optimising existing content to perform well in AI-driven search results (AEO)
- Ongoing backlink building and citation management
- Technical fixes as needed
- Competitor monitoring (we operate in a small, competitive niche)
We handle our own content writing internally. We need someone who can tell us what to create and how to structure it. We don't need someone to write it for us.
We want to work with you on a project-by-project engagement. We'll pay an hourly rate and if the work is good and the relationship is right then we'd like to work with you for many years.
To apply, please include:
1. A brief overview of your experience with small business SEO
2. One or two examples of results you've achieved in a similar context
3. Your experience with AI search optimisation specifically
4. Your hourly rate
We're open to proposals from anywhere, but experience with the NZ or AU market is a bonus and you need to be able to talk fluent English.
