Your Opportunity
Stantec’s South Carolina transportation practice is looking for an experienced Senior Drainage Engineer to join our team. You will join a full services Stantec delivery team that is successfully delivering quality plans for SCDOT, local governments, and private developers.
You will collaborate with Stantec’s Roadway Engineers, Structural Engineers, and Environmental Scientists on a variety of hydrologic / hydraulic studies and drainage improvements. This includes both transportation improvement projects with longitudinal drainage systems, bridges, and culverts, and dedicated drainage improvement projects such as neighborhood drainage improvements and culvert replacements.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Analyze hydrologic / hydraulic stormwater conditions.
- Design of stormwater management systems, storm drain systems, open channel conveyance, culvert analysis, bridge hydraulics and floodplain compensation.
- Oversee production of drainage improvement plans.
- Compilation of permits and reports for approval by regulating agencies.
- Establish and track project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Provide guidance to other engineers with less experience.
- Provide direction and coordinate staff necessary to complete assignments.
- Assist with preparation and / or review of proposals.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience with SCDOT drainage criteria preferred.
- Desirable candidate will have working knowledge of hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HY-8, and Geopak Drainage.
- Knowledge in Microstation/Geopak.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field
- Ten (10) years of experience in hydrologic / hydraulic analysis and design is preferred.
- PE license in the state of South Carolina, or the ability to obtain one within six months is required.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
