NBCUniversal is one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies, and they are seeking a Freelance Fantasy Content Creator to provide original digital content on various sports news and events. The role involves writing insightful posts, producing fantasy analysis, and collaborating with other writers to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Responsibilities
- Write original and insightful posts on all of the key news and events of the day
- Produce informative, timely, and concise fantasy analysis on breaking news, injuries, transactions, and game results
- Provide fantasy analysis for video, both for live streams and video on demand
- Brainstorm and pitch creative approaches to content and coverage of key events
- Work closely with additional fantasy writers and contributors on the site to ensure near around-the-clock coverage
Skills
- Strong editorial judgment and engagement with multiple sports properties
- Minimum one year experience in a sports writing capacity
- Familiarity with and experience in fantasy sports writing. Comfortable with using fantasy terminology in copy
- Ability to work in a team environment, eagerness to learn, and ability to adjust on the fly as storylines and trends evolve and change
- Experience and familiarity with social media platforms and how they can be applied to content
- Particular understanding and use of social media (X, Bluesky, Instagram)
- Availability on nights and weekends
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure, to meet deadlines, and multi-task
- Ability to follow major storylines across multiple sports and create clearly written, editorially sound and user-friendly content around those storylines
- Familiarity with HTML and/or web-authoring tools and software
- Comfort with sports research/statistics sources and methods and ability to fact-check efficiently
- Familiarity with AP style with the ability to create clean, accurate and original copy
- Strong comfort level with video and audio editorial presentation
- Team player who is comfortable working with editors
