About the Role
In this dynamic and flexible role, you will be responsible for providing SMART customer service, generating project leads, and assisting customers with their project needs. You will utilize your excellent communication skills to set project expectations, provide product information, and respond to customer inquiries. As a sales support specialist, you will also be responsible for selling countertops, assisting with checkout functions, and maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service, including identifying and resolving customer issues, assisting customers in locating products, and greeting customers
- Generate install and non-install project leads for the Central Design Team by actively engaging customers in their project needs
- Utilize inspiration and qualifying tools to ensure customers understand kitchen projects scope and process
- Set project expectations with customers during store interactions
- Assist and sell countertops for customers in-store (Kitchens only)
- Seek out customers to understand their needs and assist in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise
- Listen to and respond knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions
- Demonstrate sincere appreciation to customers
- Communicate information to customers regarding all stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, application, and warranty information related to Lowe's programs
- Provide prompt support to all checkout functions, call buttons, departmental pages, or requests for assistance
- Cross-functionally train in other areas of the store to help deliver the best customer service
In-Stock and Store Operations
In addition to your customer-facing responsibilities, you will also be responsible for maintaining the store's inventory and operations. This includes:
In-Stock Responsibilities:
- Use store systems to prioritize loads, print pricing labels, and search items or item numbers for price and inventory information
- Help customers have a positive shopping experience by neatly displaying up-to-date and accurate pricing and signage
- Use the point of sale terminals to process walk-up, phone, email, and online orders
- Call vendors to verify product availability and cost as needed
Clean and Safe Stores:
- Detect common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks, and promptly communicate them to management and/or Asset Protection
- Ensure compliance with housekeeping standards and programs (e.g., Zone Recovery) to maintain cleanliness and organization of store and working areas
- Maintain a safe and secure work environment, which may include conducting daily safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates
- Adhere to all safety requirements relevant to one's regular job duties: top stock safety, reinstalling safety cables, use of aisle blockers, a tether line on power equipment, spotters, and safety devices
- Operate store equipment as needed, depending on one's specific role and department (e.g., Zebra phone, telephone, paging system, iPhone, copiers, fax machines, computers, CCTV surveillance system, key cutter, panel saw, paint mixer, flooring cutters, forklifts, pallet jacks, electric lifts, compactor baler, tool rentals)
What You Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following minimum qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6 months' experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information
- 6 months' experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets
- Ability to obtain sales-related licensure or registration as may be required by law
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6 months' sales experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs, including credit cards, installations, add-on sales, and explaining warranties, product features, and benefits
- 6 months' retail experience providing customer service, including identifying and resolving customer issues, assisting customers in locating products, greeting customers, answering phones, building relationships with customers, and thanking customers for their business
- Certification in a trade area related to the department (e.g., hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, and lumber/building materials)
Skills and Competencies
In addition to the above qualifications, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies:
Essential Skills:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
- Basic math skills and ability to handle cash and operate a point-of-sale system
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in a retail environment
- Knowledge of store operations and inventory management
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems
