Atlantic Health Strategies is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Compliance Specialist with substantial, hands-on expertise in multi-state regulatory research, accreditation readiness, and strategic program development. This role requires a professional who possesses authentic subject-matter depth and the ability to interpret statutes, administrative codes, and payer regulations independently. Candidates must be able to demonstrate real-world experience, not AI-generated or outsourced knowledge.
This is a part-time hourly role with potential to transition into full-time. The position may be structured as 1099 or W2 depending on candidate and organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct advanced regulatory research across multiple states for mental health, substance use disorder, psychiatric, and eating disorder programs.
• Interpret federal and state statutes, administrative codes, Medicaid manuals, and commercial payer requirements to develop clear and actionable compliance guidance.
• Support licensure, certification, and accreditation preparation with emphasis on Joint Commission Behavioral Health, CARF, and applicable state licensing authorities.
• Develop operational recommendations that align with CMS, OIG, ASAM, and Medicaid managed care expectations.
• Complete strategic growth and feasibility assessments grounded in regulatory limitations, scope-of-practice requirements, reimbursement structures, and market dynamics.
• Provide compliance expertise for organizational due diligence, risk mitigation, new service line development, and program expansion in outpatient, residential, PHP/IOP, and psychiatric settings.
• Produce high-quality regulatory briefs, compliance memos, crosswalks, and technical summaries with precise citation and clear narrative structure.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on audits, mock surveys, corrective action planning, regulatory filings, and strategic advisory projects.

Requirements
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of behavioral health compliance, regulatory affairs, or healthcare policy experience.

Prior experience supporting compliance or accreditation efforts for outpatient, residential, PHP/IOP, crisis stabilization, or psychiatric programs.
• Exceptional analytical, writing, and documentation skills with the ability to synthesize complex regulations into executive-ready deliverables.
• Strong organizational skills, self-direction, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
