We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team at Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy (MGLVA), a Stride K12 partner school. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, personalized education to students with special needs, and helping them achieve their full potential.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a state-certified Special Education Teacher to work with students in an online environment, providing instruction, support, and guidance to ensure their success. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for special education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specific course content in an online environment, tailored to meet the individual needs of students with special needs
- Develop and implement compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), progress reports, and other state-specific required special education documentation
- Communicate with parents and related service staff to ensure students receive the appropriate therapies and support
- Facilitate collaborative special education meetings, such as annual IEP meetings
- Use provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities
- Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals and objectives
- Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students
- Demonstrate a commitment to personalizing learning for all students and establishing positive relationships with families
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and active state special education teaching license
- Ability to clear required background check
- Endorsement in Special Education
- Residency in Michigan
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and interpret student data to drive instructional decisions
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
