• Review medical records and documentation to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications for proper billing.
• Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility to facilitate smooth claim processing.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective communication with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain detailed records of billing activities, claims status updates, and payment histories for audit purposes.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding issues that may impact reimbursement.
• Stay current with industry updates related to ICD coding changes, medical billing regulations, and payer policies to ensure compliance.
Requirements
• Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and DRG classifications.
• Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems used in healthcare settings.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding standards necessary for accurate billing.
• Experience in medical collections and resolving billing discrepancies efficiently.
• Ability to interpret insurance policies and benefits to optimize reimbursement processes.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
