What We Offer: The Manager, IT Business Management & Operations is a senior IT operations leader responsible for enabling data‑driven decision‑making across the Information Technology organization. This role translates technology services, platforms, and delivery models into clear, actionable business, consumption, and cost insights—supporting transparency, prioritization, and accountability across IT. Unlike traditional finance roles, this position uses financial data as an input to operational improvement, helping IT leaders understand how capabilities are planned, consumed, and optimized. The focus is on improving how IT operates, not on performing corporate accounting or financial control activities.   Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM Monday – Friday. Location: Remote Department: IT Finance   Key Responsibilities: IT Business Management & Decision Enablement - Translate IT services, applications, and infrastructure into service‑based business and cost insights - Connect demand, capacity, consumption, and cost drivers to support informed technology investment decisions - Enable fact‑based prioritization across portfolios, initiatives, and operational work Technology Planning & Portfolio Support - Partner with the CIO, CTO, IT Directors, Enterprise Architecture, and PMO to support: - Technology demand management - Portfolio planning and prioritization - Multi‑year technology and capacity planning - Support alignment between enterprise strategy, operational needs, and long‑term technology sustainability Operational Transparency & Optimization - Drive maturity in areas such as: - Service‑based cost and consumption visibility - Application and infrastructure cost transparency - Platform utilization and capacity insights - Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service performance, and investment effectiveness Leadership & People Management - Lead and mentor IT Business Management analysts and contributors - Standardize IT planning, reporting, and insight generation practices - Continuously improve tooling, processes, and data quality used for IT decision support - Act as a senior contributor and thought leader within IT Business Management Cross‑Functional Partnership - Maintain clear partnership boundaries with Corporate Finance: - Finance owns accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial compliance - ITBM provides operational insight, service transparency, and decision enablement - Act as a trusted advisor to IT leadership without duplicating Finance functions What We're Looking For: - Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Business, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems or related field. - Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, accounting, or IT financial management. Demonstrated experience leading financial operations, forecasting, and budgeting, required. One year prior experience supporting IT, technology operations, or large-scale enterprise functions. Experience managing or leading teams, preferred. - Licensure/Certification: CPA, CMA, MBA license or eligibility, preferred. - Additional Skills (required):- Strong proficiency in Excel and IT business management tools, with the ability to develop dashboards, models, and reports that translate technology services, demand, and consumption into actionable insights for IT leaders.  - Working knowledge of financial and accounting concepts as they apply to IT operations, including project cost tracking, budget versus actuals, forecasting, and an understanding of capital versus operating expense treatment for technology investments. - Proven ability to manage, coach, and develop employees, including setting performance expectations, providing ongoing feedback, and supporting professional growth. - Understanding of technology asset lifecycles, including awareness of depreciation and amortization impacts on application, infrastructure, and platform portfolios to support informed planning and prioritization decisions. - Ability to connect data across technology services, projects, and portfolios, identify trends and cost drivers, and clearly communicate the story behind IT spend, capacity, and utilization to cost owners and senior leadership. - Experience supporting technology planning, demand management, and portfolio prioritization, using data-driven analysis to evaluate tradeoffs, investment timing, and operational impact. - Analytical and modeling skills focused on scenario analysis and decision support, including forecasting, variance analysis, and what-if modeling to improve transparency, accountability, and operational performance within IT. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and partner effectively with senior IT leaders, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. - Proven leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities, including experience mentoring analysts, standardizing business management practices, and improving maturity across IT planning and reporting processes. - Additional Skills (preferred): - Strong accounting and analytical skills  - Financial acumen and general business savvy; will be strong financially and committed to seeing that Novant IT remains fiscally sound. - Strategic mindset with strong conceptual abilities; will be a planner and a thinker; will understand the “big picture” and can continuously look for ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of IT Finance functions - Capable of managing multiple high-priority projects and work within the constraints of multiple deadlines. - Proven ability to work collaboratively within a large organization; strong interpersonal skills and a highly professional demeanor. - High energy level; someone who understands the urgency of meeting the organization’s needs; a sleeve-up style that is comfortable doing and delegating - Identifies issues and develops proposed solutions.
