Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Pilot Training and Development to design, develop, and implement effective, efficient, and compliant pilot training programs, utilizing the ADDIE cycle (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation).
- Support internal and external audits, continuous improvement initiatives, formal research projects, incident investigations, and validations to ensure alignment with corporate safety and operational objectives.
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of aviation regulations, related guidance material, corporate requirements, state, and local laws governing Delta's pilot training programs to inform training design and delivery.
- Analyze multiple data sources to assess training program effectiveness and efficiency, summarizing findings in formal reports and contributing to the development of comprehensive design documents, development plans, implementation plans, and evaluation plans for larger projects.
- Maintain formal documentation of government and corporate programs, an electronic Program Review Information Base (PADB), and a training recording/verification system.
- Create high-quality content, including instructor guides, curricula, and Learning Objectives Reports, applying adult learning theory, instructional methodologies, and compliance requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on adult learning theory, instructional design, compliance, and change management processes, driving innovation in training concepts, methods, and standards through Instructional Systems Design (ISD) approaches.
- Assist in investigations to resolve complex issues requiring organizational, procedural, or policy decisions, practicing safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
- A high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- A degree in Education, Instructional Systems Design, Aviation, or relevant work experience.
- Experience using Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies.
- A minimum of three years of training-related work experience.
- Project management experience.
- Experience working with technical training subjects and compliance training.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to adapt to multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Capability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently to meet project deadlines.
- Basic or intermediate skills with Microsoft Outlook and Word.
Preferred Qualifications
To stand out as an ideal candidate, you should have:
- Business/Airline Transport Pilot, Flight Instructor, Certified Ground/Flight Instructor certifications or military equivalents.
- Experience designing, developing, or instructing aviation-related subjects.
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and related guidance material.
- Familiarity with the FAA Advanced Qualification Program (AQP).
- Experience with training system and compliance auditing.
- Proficiency with content management systems (CMS).
- Skill with Smartsheet.
- Essential or intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, or Project.
- Experience using Adobe Acrobat.
- Essential or intermediate skill in Adobe FrameMaker or comparable authoring platform.
- At least one of the following professional certifications.
