Key Responsibilities
- Search and examine public records to determine a property's status of title, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Assemble various non-insured property information reports, providing direct interaction with clients and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Review documents affecting title to property, such as mortgages, deeds, probate records, trust agreements, and other relevant documents.
- Read and interpret real estate documents, legal proceedings, maps, and surveys, applying your knowledge and expertise to make informed decisions.
- Communicate effectively with customers, professional associations, peers, government municipalities, and state agencies, building strong relationships and providing timely support.
Minimum Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 3+ years of abstract/title examination experience.
- A strong understanding of the title examination process and procedures, related documentation, and their effect upon title.
- Residential and Acreage (metes and bounds) examination experience with Texas properties, demonstrating your expertise in this area.
- Proficiency in the use of Title Data (TIMS) title plant software, Deed Plotter software, and experience with County Government websites.
- Good research/investigation skills, with the ability to understand legal terms and stay up-to-date with new legal developments and legislation that affect real property.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, with attention to detail and a strong focus on customer service.
- The ability to prioritize according to departmental guidelines, with a high level of organization, and the ability to consistently meet deadlines and work with constantly changing priorities.
- Basic computer skills, with the ability to learn and use various software applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Acrobat.
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are desirable:
- Experience working in a remote or home office environment, with the ability to self-motivate and manage your time effectively.
- A strong understanding of real estate laws and regulations, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical context.
- Experience working with clients and customers, providing exceptional service and support.
- A certification or professional designation in a related field, such as a Certified Title Examiner (CTE) or a Certified Abstractor (CA).
