About the Role: Senior Operations Research Scientist - Last Mile
We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Research Scientist to join our team, focusing on Last Mile Fulfillment and Supply Chain Optimization. As a key member of our Operations Research team, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of our Supply Chain and Logistics strategy, optimizing our Global Supply Chain end-to-end, from sourcing to delivery of packages to our guests. You will analyze large data sets, develop complex algorithms, simulation, and optimization models to solve real-world problems, and collaborate with stakeholders across the company to enable supply chain transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and apply operations research methodologies, such as linear programming, stochastic processes, and simulation, to solve complex business problems in Supply Chain and Logistics.
- Analyze large amounts of supply chain data at the most granular level and develop key metrics to evaluate performance and optimization opportunities for Supply Chain across sales, transportation, operations, and inventory.
- Perform root cause analysis to understand key drivers related to operational performance and variance in projected outcomes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders, to gather inputs, assumptions, and understand business processes.
- Interpret results from models and provide insights to the leadership team, developing clear and concise inferences with data to influence decision-making with senior leadership teams.
About You: Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A 4-year degree in quantitative disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.
- A PhD or MS in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in retail supply chain or equivalent domain experience.
- Demonstrated industry experience in probability, statistics, optimization, and simulation.
- Strong experience in SQL and programming in Python or R.
- Extensive knowledge of supply chain concepts, such as forecasting, inventory planning, optimization, and logistics.
- Knowledge of statistics and data mining techniques/tools to analyze and derive insights from historical sales data and simulation or experiment results.
- A deep passion for problem-solving, empirical research, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts in easy-to-understand terminology with multiple audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working with large datasets and developing data pipelines.
- Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and their applications in Supply Chain and Logistics.
- Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Azure.
- Certifications in Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, or related fields.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary range of $93,800.00 - $168,800.00, based on several factors, including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
