About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmology Billing Manager to join our team in a remote capacity. As a seasoned professional in medical billing and revenue cycle management, you will be responsible for overseeing the insurance department, including all aspects of billing, posting, collections, employee management, refunds, verifications, pre-certifications, and referrals. Key Responsibilities
- Examine billing systems to ensure their accuracy through routine audits, identifying areas for improvement and implementing process enhancements as needed
- Ensure claims are correctly submitted and denials are appealed and resubmitted within the timeframe for filing consideration, minimizing delays and maximizing revenue
- Manage the investigation and resolution of billing discrepancies and errors, providing timely and effective solutions to ensure patient satisfaction and revenue integrity
- Supervise billing and collections processes to guarantee optimization in work-flow, leveraging technology and best practices to streamline operations and improve efficiency
- Review unpaid patient balances and establish payment arrangements, working closely with patients and families to find mutually beneficial solutions
- Follow-up on overdue accounts and secure payments, utilizing effective communication and negotiation skills to resolve outstanding balances
- Prepare bi-monthly charges report for clinic, providing timely and accurate financial information to support business decisions
- Manage accounts receivable reports, analyzing data and trends to identify areas for improvement and optimize revenue cycle performance
- Respond to inquiries and resolve issues related to medical billing tasks, providing exceptional customer service and support to patients, physicians, and staff
- Support co-workers with billing, insurance or account inquiries and provide assistance, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment
- Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner, maintaining the highest level of professionalism and integrity in all interactions
- Respond and assist with physician coding questions, providing expert guidance and support to ensure accurate and compliant coding practices
- Act as a liaison between practice, physicians, staff, patients, and billing office, facilitating effective communication and coordination to ensure seamless operations
- Conduct routine staff meetings to review team performance and communicate department initiatives and expectations, promoting a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Primary contact for addressing patient billing complaints, providing timely and effective resolutions to ensure patient satisfaction and loyalty
- Execute duties of position in a professional and courteous manner, embodying the values and mission of Eyecare Services Partners
- Perform additional tasks as directed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Essential Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in revenue cycle management, medical collections, claims processing, and/or accounts receivable, with a minimum of 2 years in a management or supervisory capacity
- Medical billing experience must include Medicare, managed care, and commercial insurance carriers, with a strong understanding of billing regulations and compliance requirements
- High school diploma required, with an undergraduate degree preferred
- Experience in ophthalmology billing is required, with NextGen experience highly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a related field, such as healthcare administration or business
- Certification in medical billing or revenue cycle management, such as CPC or CPB
- Experience with electronic health records and practice management systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and trends to identify areas for improvement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with patients, physicians, and staff
