Job Summary
As a Sr Data Engineer at Southwest Airlines, you will work on complex issues that require in-depth assessment of multiple factors. You will lead and provide expertise to functional task groups, participate in cross-functional projects, and provide guidance on process improvements. Your primary responsibilities will include assembling large sets of data, identifying and implementing process enhancements, building infrastructure for data extraction and loading, and developing analytical tools to provide actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble large, complicated units of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
- Identify, design, and implement inner process enhancements, including re-designing infrastructure for more scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
- Build required infrastructure for the finest extraction, transformation, and loading of data from numerous data sources using AWS and SQL technologies
- Build analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, presenting actionable perception into key business performance metrics, including operational efficiency and client acquisition
- Work with stakeholders, including data, design, product, and executive teams, to assist them with data-associated technical issues
- Generate or adapt devices and technology to serve consumer desires
- May perform other activity obligations as directed by Employee's Leaders
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or associated field; or equal formal training
- Advanced stage experience, professional and specialized expertise in:
- Cloud infrastructure, DataLake
- ETL experience ensuring source to target data integrity
- Various filetypes (Delimited Text, Fixed Width, XML, JSON, Parque)
- ServiceBus, setting up ingress and egress within a subscription, or applicable AWS Cloud services administrative experience
- Unit Testing, Code Quality gear, CI/CD Technologies, Security and Container Technologies
- Agile development experience and Agile ceremonies and practices
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience with data engineering tools and technologies, such as AWS, SQL, and data modeling
- Knowledge of data governance and data quality principles
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of the practical software of engineering technology and era, including applying concepts, techniques, procedures, and tools to the design and manufacturing of various items and services
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and ideas concerned with the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
- Ability to apply good judgment and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to issues
- Ability to understand the results of new data for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
- Skilled in identifying complex issues and reviewing associated data to develop and compare alternatives and implement solutions
- Ability to inform when something is inaccurate or is likely to go wrong
- Ability to combine portions of data to form general policies or conclusions
- Ability to shift backward and forward among two or more sports or sources of data
- Ability to establish matters or moves in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules
- Ability to perceive or discover a recognized pattern hidden in other distracting material

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $137,250 to $152,500 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Our benefits package includes:
