About the Role
This position, based in our North Hollywood, CA office, offers a unique blend of creativity, technical skill, and collaboration. As an Exhibition Designer, you will be responsible for conceiving and designing all components of exhibitions, from layout and fabrication to color schemes, lighting, and interactive elements. Key Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the Manager, Exhibitions, design all components of exhibitions, including layout, fabrication of elements, color schemes, lighting, decorative case work, and interactives.
- Design exhibition graphics, including ancillary promotional materials such as pitch decks, marketing toolkits, logos, and exhibition installation guides.
- Develop object transport solutions, such as crates, internal housing, trucking load plans, and mounts, to ensure the safe and proper handling of assets.
- Provide design and supervision of contractors engaged to fabricate exhibition components, exhibit technology, graphics, and other exhibition elements.
- Participate in installs/de-installs of traveling exhibitions for both domestic and international venues, ensuring that each exhibition is set up to perfection and provides an exceptional experience for visitors.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- At least 2 years of previous experience in exhibition design, themed entertainment design, graphic design, and/or related fields.
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in exhibition design, graphic design, themed entertainment, museum studies, or engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- A strong understanding of current trends and latest technology in the fields of exhibitions, as well as themed, immersive, and experiential entertainment.
- Ability to travel internationally, as needed, to participate in exhibition installs and other project-related activities.
- Core competency of exhibition, experiential, themed, and immersive design practices and techniques.
- Strong design communication skills, with the ability to read, analyze, interpret, and create floor plans, architectural, and technical drawings, as well as basic knowledge of algebra and geometry.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience with current popular software workflow such as SketchUp, Revit, 3D Studio Max, AutoCAD, and other similar software.
- Knowledge of techniques and best practices for safe and proper packing and crating of assets for storage, shipments, installation/deinstallation, and mounting.
- A portfolio that showcases your design expertise and creativity in exhibition design, themed entertainment, or related fields.
