Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Developmental Paraprofessional to join our team in Bethesda, MD, and surrounding areas. As a Developmental Paraprofessional, you will work one-on-one with our clients in their homes, using our innovative developmental approach to care. You will be fully supported by our Clinical team every step of the way, ensuring your success and growth as a care provider. Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with our clients in their homes, providing personalized, play-based care and support
- Follow a tailored plan for each client, reporting progress and communicating effectively with families through our custom mobile app
- Attend clinical lectures and team meetings to enhance your skills and knowledge in developmental care
- Collaborate with our Clinical team to ensure comprehensive support for our clients and their families
- Commit to working a micro part-time schedule of approximately 4-10 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate client needs
Essential Qualifications
- At least 18 years old with a GED or high school diploma
- Experience working with children, such as teachers' assistants, camp counselors, childcare specialists, special education teachers/paraprofessionals, direct support professionals, and personal caregivers, is highly valued
- Interest in a career in child development, with a passion for supporting individuals with autism and other developmental needs
- Ability to commit to working for Positive Development for at least 12 months
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license or state ID
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, regularly get up and down from the floor, and actively engage in play with children
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children with autism or other developmental differences
- Knowledge of developmental care models and practices
- Completion of or current enrollment in a degree program in a related field, such as psychology, education, or social work
- Certifications or training in areas like CPR/First Aid, crisis intervention, or behavioral support
Skills and Competencies
- Empathy and patience when working with children who may have challenging behaviors
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, families, and clinical teams
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and maintain confidentiality
- Basic technology skills, including proficiency in using mobile apps and digital platforms for communication and data entry
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
