Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English Language Arts or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university
- Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Professional Eligibility Certificate (PEC) educator certificate appropriate to the assigned teaching content area issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE)
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and promote equity and inclusion in the classroom
- Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners
- Proficiency with business technology applications, including video conferencing tools and learning management systems
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following preferred qualifications are highly desirable:
- Master's degree in English Language Arts or a related field
- Experience teaching English Language Arts in a remote or traditional classroom setting
- Knowledge of current trends, research, and methodology in instructional techniques and technology
- Experience with project-based learning, differentiated instruction, and universal design for learning
- Bilingual or biliterate in a targeted language
