Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fitness Instructor to lead unique and quality workout classes in various formats. As a Fitness Instructor with Provo City Recreation, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of our community members while enjoying the flexibility of a remote and part-time role. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high-energy and engaging workout classes in assigned fitness formats, such as aerobics, kickboxing, Pilates, yoga, fitness, gymnastics, language, martial arts, dance, art, and music.
- Assist recreation staff as needed and perform other related duties to ensure a positive and safe experience for our patrons.
- Develop and implement creative and effective lesson plans that cater to diverse fitness levels and interests.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patron inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
- Collaborate with other Fitness Instructors and recreation staff to plan and execute special events, workshops, and programs.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and continuing education requirements to maintain a high level of expertise and certification.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications:
- Sufficient knowledge and experience in the format(s) you are applying to teach, including certifications and training in areas such as CPR, first aid, and fitness instruction.
- Current and relevant certifications, such as ACE, AFAA, or NASM, in areas like group fitness, personal training, or specialized formats like Pilates or yoga.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, including bending, stooping, stretching, and occasionally lifting objects that weigh up to 50lbs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including children, adults, and seniors.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work a variety of schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Previous experience as a Fitness Instructor, with a proven track record of success and customer satisfaction.
- Specialized certifications or training in areas like group fitness, personal training, or specialized formats like Pilates or yoga.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including children, adults, and seniors, with a focus on accessibility and inclusivity.
- Strong marketing and promotional skills, with the ability to promote classes and programs through social media, email, and other channels.
