About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant/Bookkeeper to manage the financial operations for a restaurant management company overseeing five restaurants. This role is critical to ensuring accurate financial reporting, smooth payroll processing, and strong operational support.
You will join a current accounting team of three: a Controller and two Bookkeepers/Accountants. This is a great opportunity to apply your education, grow your experience, and build a long-term career in a dynamic industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bookkeeping & Accounting: Maintain accurate financial records using cash basis accounting.
- Payroll Management: Process payroll for multiple restaurant locations.
- Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries to ensure proper financial reporting.
- POS to General Ledger Reconciliation: Reconcile point-of-sale data with the general ledger.
- Cash Flow Analysis: Monitor and analyze cash flow to support business decisions.
- Operations Support: Collaborate with operations teams to provide financial insights and resolve discrepancies.
- 1099 Processing: Prepare and process annual 1099 forms for vendors.
- Close Activities: Work extended hours during weekly, monthly, and quarterly close periods to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Reporting Structure:
- Reports directly to the Controller.
Work Schedule:
- Standard hours: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM EST, Monday through Friday.
- Must be available for occasional questions during evenings and weekends (rare).
- Great working hours with flexibility for work-life balance.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2–5 years of general accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in restaurant or hospitality industry preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with cash basis accounting.
- General understanding of GAAP principles.
- Experience with Restaurant365 ERP strongly preferred.
- Minimum intermediate Excel skills required (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic formulas).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Great attitude and willingness to work hard in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a problem solver and a people person, able to communicate effectively and build positive relationships.
- Location: Must be able to work remotely in the Eastern Time Zone.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $800 – $840 weekly, based on experience.
