Overview: We are seeking an experienced Ad Hoc Grant Writer to support the development of high-quality grant applications and RFP responses on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate has a strong background writing for social service and human service organizations, with demonstrated success in competitive funding environments. This role requires the ability to quickly understand programs, synthesize complex information, and produce clear, compelling, and compliant narratives under tight deadlines. Key Responsibilities • Research, develop, and write grant proposals and RFP responses for public and private funders • Lead or support responses to RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs, ensuring full compliance with funder requirements • Collaborate with program, finance, and leadership staff to gather programmatic, outcome, and budget information • Translate complex service models into clear, persuasive narratives aligned with funder priorities • Develop or refine needs statements, program descriptions, logic models, and outcomes • Edit and strengthen existing proposal language for clarity, consistency, and competitiveness • Track deadlines and manage multiple assignments simultaneously • Ensure proposals reflect trauma-informed, equity-centered, and person-centered service approaches Required Experience & Qualifications • Minimum 3–5 years of grant writing and RFP response experience • Proven experience writing proposals in one or more of the following areas: • Social services • Developmental disabilities • HIV/AIDS services • Homelessness and housing instability • Permanent supportive housing • Mental health services • Food insecurities • Strong familiarity with government and foundation funding processes • Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams Preferred Qualifications • Experience with federal, state, county, or municipal RFPs • Knowledge of outcomes-based funding and performance metrics • Familiarity with HRA, OMH, DOHMHM, HASA, OPWDD HUD, HHS, SAMHSA, HRSA, or similar funders • Background working with nonprofit or public sector organizations Core Competencies • Exceptional written communication • Strategic thinking and attention to detail • Ability to synthesize technical and programmatic information • Deadline-driven and adaptable • Commitment to equity and culturally responsive services Job Type: Contract Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply Work Location: Remote
